The seminar focuses on the tasks of the economic committee, its functions within the company and within the works council. The economic committee provides the works council with important information on the economic and financial situation of the company as well as on future economic decisions and their impact on employment. This seminar covers basic business knowledge of company law and introduces company accounting. The aim is to provide participants with the knowledge to justify their own claims economically and to better scrutinize business arguments.

- Position and tasks of the Economic Committee
- Organization of the economic committee: basic principles of rules of procedure, division of work and organization of meetings (§ 107 – 108 BetrVG)
- Information on economic matters in accordance with Section 106 BetrVG
- Decision-making processes in companies – external and internal accounting as sources of information, key figures for the economic committee
- Structure and components of the annual financial statements (balance sheet), basis and valuation
- Basics of own information systems for the work organization of the economic committee, work-oriented key figures
- Legal and company policy enforcement of an active information policy (§ 109 – 110 BetrVG)
